How to ask
Email privacy@tandemapp.xyz and tell us what you want removed. You do not need a form, a reason, or an account in good standing — asking is enough.
Send it from the email address on your Tandem account. That is how we know the request is really yours, and it is the difference between a deletion that takes a day and one that takes a week. If you have lost access to that address, write anyway and say so — we will find another way to confirm it is you before deleting anything.
hello@tandemapp.xyz reaches us as well, and a deletion request sent there will be passed on rather than bounced. The address above is simply the one that goes straight to the people who handle it.
What to put in the email
- Which you want: the whole account deleted, or only particular data kept out of it. Both are fine — see Deleting data without closing your account.
- The email address on the account, if you are writing from a different one.
- Nothing else. You do not owe us an explanation, and we will not ask for one as a condition of doing it.
A subject line of “Delete my account” or “Delete my data” gets it to the right place fastest.
What happens next
- We confirm we have it. You get a reply acknowledging the request, so it is never sitting in silence.
- We verify it is you. This is a protection, not an obstacle — it is what stops somebody else deleting your account.
- We delete it. A deleted account is removed within 30 days, as the Privacy policy sets out. In practice it is usually much sooner; 30 days is the outer limit, not the target.
Deletion is permanent. We cannot restore an account after it has gone, so if you are only stepping away for a while, say that instead and we will talk about options rather than delete it.
What gets deleted, and what doesn't
Deleted
Your account and the things attached to it: your login, both personas — Personal and Business — your display names, avatars and statuses, your working and quiet hours, and your notification settings.
Not deleted, and why
- Messages you sent into shared rooms. They stay in those rooms, attributed to a deleted user. The people you were talking to have a copy of that conversation too, and removing your half of it would rewrite theirs.
- Logs. Security and debugging logs are kept for up to 90 days and then discarded on their own schedule, as the Privacy policy describes.
If what you want removed is a specific message rather than your account, you can delete your own messages in the app without involving us at all.
Deleting data without closing your account
You do not have to choose between keeping everything and losing everything. Write to privacy@tandemapp.xyz and name what you want gone — a persona you no longer use, attachments, your schedule — and we will remove that and leave the account standing.
The same address handles the rest of your data rights: asking for a copy of what we hold, correcting something that is wrong, or objecting to a particular use. Those are set out in Your choices and rights.
If you are on a paid plan
Say so in the same email. Deleting an account is not the same action as cancelling a subscription, and we would rather sort the billing out with you than leave a charge running against something that no longer exists. What we can and can't do about payments already taken is in Plans and billing.
